Gleich zweimal kommen Fans von Zweirädern am ungarischen Balaton auf ihre Kosten. Seien es die per Muskelkraft angetriebenen oder die PS-Starken, fast zwei Juni-Wochen haben diese den See und die landschaftlich reizvollen Uferstrecken voll im Griff.
In Balatonfüred und Tihany dreht sich vom 9. bis 13. Juni 2010 alles ums Fahrrad. Ganz gleich ob Profi, Amateur oder Zuschauer: beim größten Event seiner Art in Mitteleuropa ist für alle Freunde des Radsports etwas dabei. Im kommenden Sommer erwarten die Veranstalter des zweiten Balaton Bike Fests rund 5.000 Teilnehmer aus aller Herren Länder sowie rund 60.000 Zuschauer. Und für die wird eine Menge an den fünf Tagen geboten.
Bei über einem Dutzend Wettbewerben und Touren stellen die radelnden Teilnehmer Können wie Ausdauer unter Beweis. Insider der Radszene wissen genau, was sich hinter Begriffen wie XCO, Slopestyle, Fox Dirt Jump Race oder Fox North Shore Course verbirgt und welche Anforderungen hier an Material wie Fahrer gestellt werden – oder auch einfach mal nur der Spaß am Mitmachen. Wem es beim Tihany Downhill, dem Balaton Marathon oder Dirt Contest zu heiß wird, der kann sich im Balaton erfrischen oder selbst bei einer gemütlichen Familienradtour aktiv werden. Gemütlicher, aber fachsimpelnd geht es auf der begleitenden Rad-Messe BRIKE EXPO zu, die 2009 allein 4.000 Besucher anzog. Im Rahmenprogramm sorgen Musikaufführungen, eine Fahrradschule für Kinder, eine Fotowettbewerb und anderes mehr für Abwechslung.
Für Besucher ist der Event übrigens kostenfrei, aktive Teilnehmer zahlen bei frühzeitiger Buchung vergünstigte Startgebühren, die je nach Wettbewerb oder Rennen zwischen vier und 21 Euro liegen, später bei vier bis 36 Euro.
